Archival preservation
Maintain authentic, usable records and evidence over time.
Preservation should protect integrity, context and usability. Maintain controlled copies, provenance, dates, version information and enough technical information to open or interpret the material.
Where an original platform or service is decommissioned, capture the records needed for history and accountability before access is lost. Preservation does not require keeping obsolete operational systems live.
